A History of Mr. Brown
Do you know Mr. Brown? He was the best soccer player in our city. Our city has a soccer team, the Soccer Club of South. We call it SCOS. SCOS has a long history, and many good soccer players were members of the team. But Mr. Brown played soccer the best of all.
He is from this city, and he started playing soccer when he was 6 years old. He liked to practice soccer, so he practiced hard every day. When he was 8 years old, he joined a famous junior soccer team. He got many goals and won a lot of games. But he didn’t stop practicing hard. In high school, he became the most famous high school soccer player in the country.
SCOS wanted him to join. Of course, many other teams from other cities wanted him too. At that time, SCOS was not the most famous team in the country. But he chose our city’s team. He said, “I like SCOS, and I wanted to play for it for a long time. Being a member of SCOS is a dream for many young soccer players in South City. And it was my dream, too.” We were very excited and hoped the team would win more games.
In his first season, we were not very happy. SCOS lost more games than the year before. He couldn’t play well, and he didn’t get any goals that season. But he never gave up. He practiced harder than ever. In the next season, he got some goals. In his third season, SCOS won the most games in ten years. He kept practicing hard. Finally, in his fifth season, he got 20 goals and SCOS won the championship. So, he got the best award of the season.
After that, he played for SCOS for 15 years and received seven awards.
He often says, “I’m not a genius, but I practiced harder than anyone else. When I couldn’t play well, I never gave up. That’s why I got many awards.”
Now, he teaches soccer to many young players as a couch. We all hope to become great SCOS soccer players like him one day.
